Dr. Mhairi Gass

Dr. Mhairi Gass joined Amec Foster Wheeler in 2010 and is currently the technical lead for core materials research, which focuses on understanding the behaviour of zirconium alloys in light water conditions. This involves a number of test programs, predominately concentration on delivering corrosion data with a detailed characterisation campaign to develop mechanistic understanding. Prior to joining Amec Foster Wheeler, Mhairi’s work concentrated on developing transmission electron microscopy techniques for application to a range of material systems with positions at both the University of Cambridge, and subsequently as research director for the UK’s Super STEM facility, which provided atomic resolution imaging and spectroscopy to both the academic and industrial communities
