Dr. Jinzhao Zhang

Dr. Jinzhao Zhang (Ph. D. degree in mechanical engineering from UC Louvain, 1993) is a Technical Director and Global Expert at Tractebel (ENGIE), in charge of nuclear fuel design, safety analysis and licensing. He has multiple expertise and 40 years’ experience of R&D, engineering and consulting in nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics, fuel thermal mechanics, multi-physics modelling, uncertainty and sensitivity analysis, safety analysis and licensing. He has provided engineering and consulting services to many international utilities, vendors and safety authorities.

He is an active member of several international working groups or committees, and leader of several international projects at IAEA and OECD/NEA and PWROG on thermal hydraulics and safety analysis, fuel safety, performance, and technology. He has contributed to writing, revision or review of many safety guides, technical guidance and technical reports for IAEA and OECD/NEA. Currently, he chairs the IAEA Technical Working Group on Fuel Performance and Technology (TWGFPT) and the OECD/NEA Expert Group on Reactor Fuel Performance (EGRFP).

He is a Guest Editor for the International Journal of Nuclear Engineering and Design, and an active organiser (track or session chair) of several international conferences (TOPFUEL, NURETH, NUTHOS, BEPU). He has authored/co-authored about 100 papers in international journals or conferences.
